There are many people who ask the question, "How can I make money online?" Whether you want to earn a few extra dollars monthly or want to earn a full-time living from online, you need to have a business plan into effect.

Given there are many ways to earn money onine, probably one of the easiest ways to make money online is through blogging.

What is a blog? A blog, short for weblog, is in effect a script written for you to type your thoughts about something. You can blog about the music that you like, review products, talk about a product that you have for sell, etc.

If you are starting an ecommmerce site you should consider having a blog for that site because it allows you to get more search engine traffic looking for answers about a product that you may sell. If your blog tells the benefits of why the visitor should use your products, you stand a better chance of converting that visitor to a buying customer.

But you don't have to be in ecommerce to use a blog to make money. There are several ways to make money with a blog without ever selling a single product! I am going to outline these ways below.

First, you need to have a blog. I don't recommend using a free blog such as yourname.wordpress.com or yourname.blogger.com for a couple of reasons. #1) It is extremely hard to get traffic to these. #2) It is against the terms of service for a lot of these sites to advertise products, meaning you can talk about the product but you cannot actually place an ad on the site.

You can however download Wordpress and install it on your own site and do whatever you please. Don't get me wrong, I use Wordpress on a few of my sites, but I also use a custom programmed script that I wrote on a few of my sites as well, including this one. Once you have a blog setup, sign up for affiliate programs. You can visit your favorite shopping site (WalMart.com, Sears.com, etc.) and sign up for their programs. Most of these sites have a product datafeed that you can tap into to make marketing their products really easy.

Once you have a couple of advertisers setup, build your blog. Be sure to put links to products and always place pictures into the page as well. This will increase your traffic from search engines as well.

When building a page, write about what you like or don't like about a product (sometimes negative advertising works to sell a product.)

Another way to make money with blogging is through Google Adsense. You can sign up for adsense and place an ad unit on your site. If you optimize this correctly, you can earn decent money through that program.

Finally, you can sell advertising to other sites. Other site owners will pay you to post a link to their site! Please remember that if you do this to use the nofollow tags on the link so that you or the other siteowner aren't penalized from Google.
